Meeting of BCCI Board of Directors with chief of Customs Department, President of Port Services and Petroleum Directorate in Hairatan

Meeting of BCCI Board of Directors with chief of Customs Department, President of Port Services and Petroleum Directorate in Hairatan
13Feb2013

Mr. Arash Younosi Chairman of BCCI with the presence of Mr. Haji Khairuddin “Mayel” Board Member of BCCI, Mr. Aminullah “Takhari” Service deputy of BCCI, Mr. Ahmad Jawid representative of Barakat company and Nasir Ahmad “ Qasimi” executive officer of Balkh Chamber of Commerce and Industry went to Hairatan, and conducted a meeting with chief of Customs Department, President of Port Services and Petroleum Directorate in Hairatan and talked about the problems of national businessmen and added that customs rules and regulations are fully and 100% fulfilled over businessmen through this port that we also want the rules and regulations to be adapted.

But our businessmen cannot compete in the market with those businessmen who import their goods and commodities from other ports because in other ports the customs rules and regulations are not fully collated and the tax is not paid by businessmen due to the existence of corruption. So the goods and commodities which are imported from those ports are cheaper and Balkh businessmen cannot compete with them, if the law is adapted then it should be equally adapted over all businessmen of Afghanistan. This transition has disappointed our businessmen and caused decrease in import of goods and commodities, also the price of database is higher than import invoice.

So Petroleum Directorate in Hairatan port receives tax according to the invoice weight, which this transition has caused businessmen to escape from this port and will affect serious loss to economic body of businessmen and Balkh province, and we hope the problems to be solved through your serious attention.

Afterwards, each chief of Departments promised to convey the problems to related authorities in order to necessary attention be paid to remove the problems.
