The 5th Business Matchmaking Conference and industrial products exhibition of Afghanistan border provinces and Tajikistan was held at Khatlan province of Tajikistan on 16th of October 2014.
Mr. Nasir Qasimi the Chief Executive Officer of Balkh Chamber of Commerce and industries has led a delegation of twenty businessmen from Balkh, Takhar and Kunduz provinces.
Mr. Nasir Qasimi on his speech to Afghan-Tajik business communities talked about the importance of business relation between two brother countries and highlighted the level of imports and exports through Sher khan border crossing. Also Mr. Qasimi has mentioned that last year Afghanistan imported around $200 million worth of products from Tajikistan or transited through Tajikistan and exported around $ 46 million worth of products to Tajikistan and suggested that the level of business turnover could reach to a very high level if the two business communities work closely together.
Mr. Qasimi has pointed out many opportunities in agricultural and industrial output of two countries that are existed but need to be promoted he also raised the challenges Afghan businessmen are facing while dealing with Tajikistan businessmen. One of the very important reasons that put off many Afghan businessmen in doing business with Tajikistan is the visa issuance that either takes long time or being rejected by the Tajikistan embassy and consulates in Afghanistan.
Mr. Qasimi has thanked the Tajik Government, people and the business community as well as GIZ-TJ for facilitating the Afghan-Tajik exhibition and conference and said he hopes that these events takes place more often and urged the two countries business communities to take the advantages of these opportunities in promoting their businesses.
